2011 was a positive year for tourism in Copenhagen.
Hotel bednights increased in all months of the year compared to 2010. Most months even with a two-digit growth rate. The number of passengers in Copenhagen Airport also set monthly records again and again. The year total showed an increase of 5,7% compared to 2010.
Notice:
♦ The April fluctuation of almost 40% in airport passengers (and 24% in hotel bednights) can be explained by a very low number of passengers in 2010 due to the ash cloud from the Icelandic volcano eruption that limited the European air traffic significantly in April 2010.
♦ The hotel bednight growth of 18,6% in September 2011 was primarily generated by the UCI Road World Championship of Cycling that were held in the streets of Copenhagen from September 19th-25th 2011.
